It’s quite possible that most of your house can be organized and tidy, while your bathroom organization leaves much to be desired! Am I right? With so many products and brushes and tools and the morning rush to get out the door, leaving everything on the counters often becomes the easiest way to deal with it all. Then the next morning, the mess awaits us! And the next. And the next.
It doesn’t have to be this way! We can create a little organization oasis in our bathrooms with a few easy tweaks.

Bathroom Organization: Get rid of any products or tools that are no longer used
“Influencers” make money by telling us all about the latest and greatest products. They tout its amazing life-altering abilities. We buy it and it isn’t life-changing! In fact, we hate the way it feels on our skin or our hair. The smell makes us want to vomit. Yet, we spent good money on it! We can’t just throw it away! NEWSFLASH! Yes, you can!! Unless the company is offering you a refund and will reimburse you for shipping, tossing it may be your only option!
I would venture to say many of us have piles of products in our bathrooms that we don’t use. Old curling irons. Styling wands. Sprays for this or that. Sunless tanners that make us look more like the Lorax than Pocahontas. Bodysprays or washes that we were given as obligatory gifts.
You have permission to downsize the collection of items gathering in your bathroom that you have forgotten you own and never use!
Bathroom Organization: Get rid of products or medications that are expired.
One of the easiest, and most mindless, ways to declutter any space is to get rid of any item that’s expiration date has long passed. Especially in our bathrooms, we hold onto items way too long!
How long has that mascara been in your drawer? What about that foundation or blush? When did the doctor prescribe that anti-inflammatory? When was the last time you used the nasal syringe to suck gunk out of your 10 year old’s nose?
Throw that junk away!
It would be nice if manufacturers put expiration dates in more obvious, uniform places on every bottle or tube. Alas, they don’t so just finding the expiration dates is the longest and most tedious part of this task.
Bathroom Organization: Create Space Where There Is No Space
Not all of us are blessed with an abundance of drawers and cabinets in our bathrooms. In fact, most older homes were built with a very utilitarian mindset. Nothing extra or fancy. What do you need in a bathroom besides toilet paper, soap, and a way to dry your clean hands?
Fortunately, even the smallest of bathrooms have lots of places where storage can be added. Over the Toilet Cabinets can be found in all kinds of colors, finishes, and styles. Over the Door Organizers add extra storage to the back of doors – and every bathroom should have a door, correct? Shelves can be added to walls, too!
A product that was brought to my attention last week is genius for those of us with powder rooms or bathrooms that only have a pedestal sink with no cabinet. Enter the Pedestal Sink Cabinet. Definitely need to make sure the measurements are right for adding one of these, but what a game-changer!
Bathroom Organization: Use Bins and Drawer Dividers to Organize Cabinets and Drawers
For those of us with an abundance of space, we must organize our stuff! Place it in bins or divided drawers by use or category.
Every day use items together.
Hair products together.
Hand products and lotions together.
Feminine hygiene products together.
Are you picking up what I’m putting down? Categorizing what’s stored in our bathrooms will help with our efficiency and peace!
Bathroom Organization: Clean Up After Yourself
I know, I know! You’ve got 10 minutes to get dressed, but it’s going to take you 15 to do your hair! I get the panicked rush of getting ready for the day.
However, if we’ll take 2 minutes to place your lotions, potions, and accessories back where they belong EVERY SINGLE DAY, your getting dressed time will be so much less chaotic!
Every morning when you wake up, you’ll be glad you made the effort the night before. Don’t have one more cleaning task hanging over your head all day, every day!
