Cottage Keeping is my weekly post where I talk about my week and share my favorite DIYs, home decor, recipes, and other great posts from around the web.
The Cottage Keeper’s Thoughts:
As of today, we have lived in Auburn, AL for 3 years. Boy, do I have some thoughts about that! If you had told me on June 10, 2020, that we would build a house and pretty much never leave Auburn, I would have laughed in your face! I even chronicled a countdown on my Facebook…counting down the days until we could escape this place. God has done so much change in our lives and I’m glad that He sees and knows so much more than we do.
Y’all…this week has been…a week! I was living in LaLaLand when I thought summer would be less stressful than the school year has been! So many schedules to manage and appointments and just general chaos! That doesn’t even factor in the poop show that my full-time job has been lately! More about that later…much later.
I’ve mentioned before that we are really a boring bunch of people—the epitome of average. So when I say the most exciting thing this week was teaching Harper how to clean paint out of the carpet with hot water and peroxide you will be assured of the lameness of our everyday lives! And yes – hydrogen peroxide is an amazing stain remover!
Tonight we are hosting a group of cross-country parents at our house for a little summer kickoff party. The kids’ first response, while talking about this over dinner last night, was “so that means we have to clean!” Ha! Thankfully, I’m much more relaxed about cleaning for guests than I once was. Since we’ve had quite a few guests here recently, the house stays manageably clean.
Procrastination is never my friend! I intended to put together a new post this week about our outdoor spaces, but the week got away from me, as most weeks do. While I’m working to get that together, let’s reminisce about the back porch I decorated and the easy drop cloth curtains I did at our rental house here in Auburn.
What the Cottage Keeper is Loving:
We’re adding these macrame gnomes to our list of projects we’re going to work on this summer! Aren’t these adorable?!
I’ve been on a flower-arranging kick lately. What better combo than flowers and ice cream? Check out these cute ice cream cone flower arrangements!
Need to do some decluttering this summer? Here are 22 Organizing Shortcuts to Declutter for you to get started!
We love Jason’s Deli but don’t have one close by. We’ve talked about trying to make their gingerbread muffins at home so we will be giving this mini-gingerbread muffin recipe a try soon!
As we spend more time outside, I’m trying to come up with ways to combat mosquitoes. Thinking about throwing one of these tabletop fire bowls together before the get-together tonight.
What’s on your agenda this weekend?
Thanks for stopping by!
