The Cottage Keeper’s Thoughts:

We’ve been on vacation in Destin, Florida this week. The places on my body where the sun doesn’t normally shine are lobster red! You’ve gotta remember, that I’m generally always cold. I rarely wear shorts in public in the summer because the temperature inside restaurants, movie theaters, and stores seems to be set to arctic blast!

My beach read for the week has been Profit First. I’m now feeling really inspired to go home and make some changes to how I manage my business finances. If you’re an entrepreneur, business owner, or just like to read books about accounting and finance, I recommend you pick this one up!

You probably know that I’m pretty attached to my old man Shih Tzu, Cocoa. I told you he has doggy dementia. Leaving him for a week has me all torn up. I even threatened not to come on this trip because I couldn’t stand the thought of him being locked up without anyone to love on him in the middle of the night like I do. I’m pathetic! The place he’s staying has a video camera feed that we can watch on our phones so we’ve been checking in on him. Being able to see him is both a blessing and a curse!

Our lot for the house we’re building has been cleared! It was surprising to drive by and see it flattened this week. Definitely made this whole house-building process much more real! It also helped me see that our lot is bigger than I imagined, which is a good thing.

The blog was super quiet this week, obviously. I skipped the week 8 update for the One Room Challenge but will be posting the final reveal tomorrow, hopefully. I’ve gotta force myself to sit down and do it this afternoon. All the pictures were snapped before we came to the beach. It’s just a matter of writing the post! Get caught up on my One Room Challenge posts here!

Are you still obsessed with Chip and JoJo? If you’re planning a trip to Waco, one of my blog friends just went and has some great tips for visiting the Silos! (Did you know I grew up in Waco?)

I love me some chicken salad! Check out Juliet’s Chicken Salad for a fun little twist…cherries! Sign me up!

Picking paint colors was the most challenging part of making the design decisions for our house build. I ended up going with Agreeable Gray and Anew Gray for the two colors the builder will put in the house. Here’s a great post comparing Agreeable Gray with other grays and coordinating colors.
