Cottage Keeping is my weekly post where I talk about my week and share my favorite DIYs, home decor, recipes, and other great posts from around the web.
The Cottage Keeper’s Thoughts:
It’s officially graduation week which means we’re doing the full-court press to get the house and our lives ready for the grandparents to descend so we can celebrate Bailey’s graduation. All the cleaning. All the organizing. All the menu planning, food ordering, and reservation making. It’s going down!
My master bedroom project slowed to an almost halt the past couple of weeks. We finally hung the first pieces of trim and have been working on getting some painted before we install it. The rain and humidity have caused the paint drying to take much longer than necessary. We’re hoping today will be “install day” and we will have this finished in the next couple of days. Did I mention it’s graduation week?

This week, I purchased our first dehumidifier. I feel like such a grown-up since making this purchase. We’ve had a hard time regulating the temperature in the basement. I’m not sure our air conditioning units are working properly or that our high tech thermostats are working correctly. Nonetheless, the amount of water this dehumifier is pulling out of the air is fascinating!
In honor of my birthday that is coming up this week, I finally broke down and purchased myself a cordless brad nailer. My biggest question is why I haven’t done this sooner! One of the reasons projects happen so slowly around here or they never start at all is I hate the set up and the clean up. The thought of dragging the air compressor and our nail gun up the stairs and back down didn’t excite me. So I just pulled the trigger (like that pun?) and I have zero regrets!
Since there’s no new content on the blog this week…I promise that’s going to change soon…Take a look at some of my older content – like this Summer Fun Ideas for Kids with lots of easy ideas to keep the kids busy while they’re out of school or these 37 Tasks You Can Do In 10 Minutes or Less!
What the Cottage Keeper is Loving:
In honor of the week of cleaning and prep that is underway here, this post from Filter Free Parents seems appropriate!
We’re all about a trifle here so I’m thinking we’re going to have to add this No-Bake Berry Trifle to our rotation.
One of our next sprucing sprucing up projects will be our outdoor living spaces. We definitely need to add some privacy to our top porch. Here are 13 ideas for doing that naturally!
I’ve always wanted to make some big lanterns, but haven’t done it yet. Now that I have new brad nailer, it seems like the perfect time to make some. This looks like a great DIY lantern plan!
Yarn Art projects have been popping up in my Pinterest feed all week and now I’m totally intrigued! Check out these 20 Yarn Wall Hanging projects! Off to buy yarn…after I paint and panic clean!
