Cottage Keeping #36

Cottage Keeping is my weekly post where I talk about my week and share my favorite DIYs, home decor, recipes, and other great posts from around the web.

The Cottage Keeper’s Thoughts:

You know what today is? It’s the first Saturday in what feels like forever, we don’t have something on the calendar! Sounds like a good day to do nothing, but also a great day to paint, plan some graduation festivities, and maybe play some pickleball.

Honestly, this was a really hard week! I almost quit my full-time job at least once a day. I sent an email to my bosses basically refusing to do a menial task. I am one of those people who will suffer in silence, but I also am easily frustrated by inefficient processes. My banquet table decor project had a few hiccups I wasn’t expecting, ironically due to the inefficient process at a local business. Thankfully, I didn’t quit my job and the table decor came out perfectly fine.

Thursday we celebrated the end of the senior track season for Bailey! I was tasked with putting together table decor and also helped organize the layout of the food tables. I was too busy flexing my creative and controlling muscles to get too emotional about this being the official end of Bailey’s high school running career.

This week word got out that I’m once again, officially, a coach’s wife. Jake accepted a position as the Boys’ Distance and Track Coach at Auburn High School. It’s been a dream for him to get back into coaching, but we never imagined it would happen before he retires from the Army. We’re excited to get the opportunity to help a program we love and that has been so meaningful in 3 of our kids’ lives get better.

Last night we hosted a slumber party for Jenna Beth and her friends to celebrate her 14th birthday! Giggles. Singing. Food. I’d say it was a successful night. Now I’m convinced everyone needs a stash of these divided serving trays. I only have one that I got from Hobby Lobby, but we used it twice last night – once for make-your-own pizza toppings and then for sundae toppings. Get yourself one or ten!

In unfortunate news, there was no new content on the blog this week! There just wasn’t a span of time available to create a new post. If I had my life together, I could probably create posts in advance, but I will never even pretend that I have my life together. Since it’s moving season, though, check out this post about an organized move and this post about getting motivated to declutter.

What the Cottage Keeper is Loving:

You know I’m an advocate for owning less stuff. If you’re struggling with a cluttered home, here are 10 signs that you own too much stuff!

It’s time to start sprucing up our outdoor spaces for all those summertime hangouts! I love these patio styling ideas from Simply2Moms.

Though we don’t have any major graduation party plans, I do want to put together a small celebration for Bailey and the family that will be in town. I love these outdoor party ideas and these party finger food platters!

Have a piece of furniture that needs a facelift? How about using fabric? I love this furniture makeover using fabric over at Pure Happy Home.

For my slumber party guests, I’m going to whip up one of our favorite breakfast casseroles. This French Toast Bake is really easy and delicious!

I hope you have a fantastic and relaxing weekend!
