Cottage Keeping is my weekly post where I talk about my week and share my favorite DIYs, home decor, recipes, and other great posts from around the web.
The Cottage Keeper’s Thoughts:
I’m sure you’ve seen the meme that floats around social media from time to time that says Being an adult is saying “but after this week things will slow down a bit” over and over until you die. This is the current state of my life! I’m seriously living from one event to the next. Graduation > College Life Group > Cross Country Parents > Freshman Orientation > College Life Group….and on and on and on. How do I make this stop?
Speaking of Freshman Orientation. As I type this I’m sitting in the passenger seat of my Kia Sedona venturing through the always horrific Atlanta traffic situation and into the mountains of NC and onto East Tennessee.
This is the first trip where we’ve taken the dog with us. The AirBnB has a special little bed for doggy guests. We’re all looking forward to seeing if Bentley will embrace his special place in this condo or not!
I have photos edited for my back porch post and some of the post written but just haven’t had the mental energy to sit and get it done. My full-time gig has been pretty taxing lately. I’m sure I’ve mentioned that on this post before. If not for the terribly expensive economy we live in, I’d likely be unemployed by now! Alas, I’m definitely surviving, not thriving in this area of my life.
Since there’ve been no new posts on the blog, I figured I’d pull up a few from the archives to share with you. This Decoupage Hymn Covered Letter is a fun project and a great gift for the music lover in your life. I miss this sweet Coastal-ish bedroom I did for the girls a few years ago! And how about this Black and Teal Patio Inspiration?

Gearing up for July 4th and a Promotion party so I’m stocking up on all the red, white, and blue things! While we were traveling, I bought these little flags to stick in table bouquets, the buntings to hang on my back porch rail, and this garden flag for the flower bed.
I keep a stash of mason jars so I think this is a great list of uses for them!
One of my next projects involves some tricky hiding of some eyesores in my laundry room. I’m thinking one of these fold-down drying racks may be a good hider of one of the eyesores!
I had never seen a layered chocolate chip cookie cake like this until earlier this week. Now I’ve added this to a project for the girls to do ASAP!
You know I love all things frugal and cheap so you know I am all about Kim’s Shop Your Home post.
