Cottage Keeping

Thanks for stopping by to see for this week’s Cottage Keeping and to see what’s going on in my little world. On Saturdays, I share some snippets about this week and what my family has going on as well as some of my favorite things I’ve seen around the web this week.

The Cottage Keeper’s Thoughts:

I’ve been pretty contemplative this week about several different aspects of my life and business. I’m not sure that I have any fresh revelations or any major actions steps I’m going to be taking immediately. Not sure if I’ve reached a point of burnout or maybe there are other things I’d like to have time to pursue and maybe I’m just not able to give time to those pursuits right now. As I work it out, I’ll share the journey as I feel led.

My boys had to have COVID tests done this week so that they can go to Cross Country camp at Furman University this week. Maverick couldn’t sit still to have his nose swabbed. It was quite the spectacle. Bailey took the swabbing like a champ! Thankfully we got the results back fairly quickly so the worry of a random positive test was short-lived.

We officially have 3 kids in braces at the same time. (Send donations!) Bailey will get his off starting next week and will go into retainers. Maverick and Jenna Beth both started this week and have 18-24 months on their treatment plan. Both are being incredibly sensitive about what they can eat because they say they’re in so much pain. I may save money on my grocery bill because Maverick has fewer snack options.

I’m back on an iced coffee kick for the summer! I bought this Cold Brew Coffee Maker at the end of last summer and it has made the process of making iced coffee so much easier than the Pioneer Woman’s method I have used for years. Are you a cold brew drinker?

Finally, this week on the blog, I shared the final reveal of my Game Day Porch Makeover as part of the One Room Challenge. We’ve really enjoyed hanging out back there in the past few weeks. We sat out last night in the rain with a fire going. It was quite peaceful. Then we came inside and watched Jaws 3. (dun dun…dun dun…)

What the Cottage Keeper is Loving This Week:

Need some 4th of July activities to do with your kids tomorrow? Here are some great ideas that will be fun for you and your kiddos!

Did you know I pretty much grew up at a movie theater? Was a pretty fun childhood so seeing these beautifully restored vintage theater seats took me back to those days of selling tickets, popping popcorn, and drinking Dr. Pepper with no ice!

I love how my new friend, Lela, used her Cricut Maker 3 to kick her kitchen sink organization up a notch! Lela, as a Circuit ambassador, nominated me to receive an amazing gift from Cricut. See the picture below! I can’t wait to take my new Cricut Maker 3 for a little test drive!

Apples are typically used for fall desserts, but I think these Baked Apples for Two would be perfect any time! Just add a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Right?

Do you love a feature wall? I’m scheming up all kinds of feature wall ideas for the new house, but I’m loving the simplicity of this Perfect Circle Feature Wall.

Finally, over in my FB group, I’ve talked a lot about purging in June. Here are 100 things to throw away from every room of your house – and there’s a printable, too! I love a printable!
