This project is really starting to drag, but we are going to make this master bedroom cozy come Hell or high water!
My almost 14-year-old started soccer practice this week and I’m reminded why our lives have been so peaceful the last 4 months. Night practices are really the worst! Every night is like a mad dash to eat and ensure she’s at practice on time.
I knew if I wanted to get anything accomplished on this project, it would have to be done over the weekend. Since we didn’t have to be at church until 7:30 pm Sunday night – yes you read that right – more about that in the Saturday post – I dedicated lots of Sunday to putting the beginnings of the accent wall color on the walls.
Let me tell you, though, I love walking into my room now, even though it’s not complete. As one of my friends used to say, it feels like a hug!
Paint for a Cozy Master Bedroom
You know what adds a lot of cozy to this once big, blah room? Paint!
I am absolutely loving this Texas Storm color on the walls. It’s moody and deep.
It makes these pink curtains pop even more.
By no means is this a perfect paint job, but some of my imperfections and issues will be covered or disguised once we put up the trim in a few weeks.
Still some debate about whether or not I want to paint the bottom trim piece to match the paint or leave it white. What do you think? I really think once we start putting the trim up, I’ll get a better idea of what to do about that baseboard!
I chose an eggshell finish because I wanted to be able to wipe it down if it gets dirty, but I didn’t want the shiny sheen of a satin.
In the next couple of days, I plan to finish the two walls that still need painting!
A Cozy Master Bedroom Sitting Area
In my original design plan, I knew I wanted some sort of sitting area. We’ve always had this bench at the end of the bed, but we mainly use it for laying out clothes the night before. We don’t just sit on it.
Many nights, I’ll just come sit on the bed to escape the chaos. Having a chair would give me a much better and likely more comfortable option.
Last Saturday night, after we popped into the prom picture session, we did a return at Home Goods. Before we left, I wanted to just check out their chair selection and there sat the perfect chair.
Jake said we didn’t have room in the van to bring it home Saturday night. I think he just didn’t want to mess with it.
We also found this lamp and the little table to sit with the chair. A perfect little threesome!
Sunday afternoon, while I painted the day away, he went back to Home Goods to make all these purchases for me. He’s the best!
What a perfect little sitting area, don’t you think?
This chair. This lamp. This little table. They’re the cozy little sitting area this master bedroom needed!
We’re gonna have to fight Bentley for the chair, though!
I’m really looking forward to hanging out in this cozy sitting area frequently.
What’s Next?
This weekend I have a few plans.
First, we have 2 dressers that need to be assembled. Fingers crossed that we have all the pieces we need and that all the pieces are in good shape.
Fedex delivered one of them to my neighbor’s house today so the sight of me “stealing” it off their driveway was likely quite humorous, especially after the dog escaped the front door and led JB and I on a chase for a few minutes.
Then, there is a little bit more paint that needs to be done behind the bed and behind Jake’s big dresser.
If time allows, I may start steaming the curtains to get some of the wrinkles out of them.
All of that will have to happen between two days of a track meet and buying a car to replace one of ours that was wrecked almost 2 months ago.
The good thing is the kids are out of school tomorrow so I can put Maverick to work on the furniture assembly.
Thanks for following us this far! I hope this inspires you to create a cozy space in your own home!

Such a great chair and color palette in your bedroom. Feels like a hug, that’s a perfect description of how I want my rooms to feel as well. Have a great weekend!
