Not So Quick Master Bedroom Transformation Update

The Master Bedroom transformation is in slow, but full swing!

I warned you this would be a ridiculously slow process, didn’t I?

To see where we started, see my previous post – How To Create A Stylish Master Bedroom.

In this first week, we put the bed and 2 nightstands in place.

Master Bedroom Bedding Decisions

I’m embarrassed to say that we still use a really dingy queen comforter on our comfy, cozy king-size bed! I included this picture of it to be totally transparent about this process. Real life!

I actually ordered a comforter set from Walmart a week ago and my order was canceled. Womp! Womp! Something about incorrect inventory data. I’d link it, but I can’t even find it on Walmart’s website now.

That snafu was a blessing, though. I went inside my local Walmart to see if I could find one in person and after seeing it, it wasn’t really what I was looking for.

After thinking I wanted something with a little more action and movement, I changed my mind. I know you’re shocked!

Today, I ordered this grey and white striped quilt set from Walmart. Let’s hope this one makes it to my front porch.

Wanna know something I’ve learned through this process? Well, I can’t say this is really new, but it’s proven true more on this project than any other time I’ve needed to buy multiple pieces of furniture at one time.

Google is a great tool for finding the best deal!

Seconds away from adding this quilt to my cart in my Target app, I decided to check and see if there were other places that carried this exact same comforter.

I entered Levtex Home – Galway into my handy dandy Google search bar. Lo and behold, Target, Walmart, Amazon, and a few other retailers sell this exact same set. Of course, I ordered the lowest-priced option! Momma raised me right!

My advice – and maybe one day I’ll write a post all about being a cheapskate home decorator – is to always search for the specific item – brand and item name – just to see if there is a deal to be had! I love a deal!

Master Bedroom – Nightstands

Maverick is my handyman in training. He served as the project manager for assembling the bed as well as these nightstands.

I asked him to assemble them and within minutes he was finished. Apparently, he just had to put the 4 legs on them.

I will say, these aren’t the highest quality nightstands and aren’t a significant size, but they’ll work. Eventually, the lamps won’t be on them and that’ll help them look more reasonably sized.

Once there are curtains hung beside them, they won’t look so much like they’re sitting out on an island or like little dwarf goats hanging out beside the longhorn! At least that’s what I’m telling myself.

I’m not in love, but I don’t hate them.

Based on the placement of the plugs on the wall behind the bed, we have a cord issue. I’m looking into a few ways to hide all this mess. Since this isn’t the end product – walls will be painted – sconces will be hung – I’m not getting too irritated by how obvious the power strips are under these.

It’s a “figureoutable” problem!

What’s Next in the Master Bedroom Makeover?

Next week, we’ll start hanging curtains, but that will require I decide on curtain rods!

One of the dressers has arrived. It just needs to be assembled.

I’ve decided on a color for my board and batten – well, really just the batten. Hoping to make that purchase this weekend so we can at least start the base coat and get that ball rolling…well, the paint rollers need to roll, I suppose!

Check back next week for more updates – hopefully!
