Affordable Farmhouse Living Room Design

Several years ago, when we moved into the Yellow Cottage, I knew I was going to make our downstairs living room a great little sitting room. I wanted people to walk into the house and feel welcomed, to feel like they belonged!

That’s always been my goal – that my home would be like a hug for people – beautiful and stylish, but not stuffy and overdone! I want people to be comfortable enough to put their feet on the coffee table and open the refrigerator without asking permission unless you’re my teenage son!

If I’m honest, this was one of my favorite spaces I ever designed. It just all came together exactly how I intended. The rug changed over time. The mantel decor changed with the seasons, but the good bones and solid foundation of the chairs, rug, and table remained the same.

Don’t hold your breath on perfection of posting every Monday here! Or maybe putting this out there to the 5 or 6 of you who have read this far down will be accountability to get me to create more mood boards for you.

I also hope you know that I am extremely budget conscious so you can rest assured that any items I pick for a design mood board will be affordable for the everyday gal who wants to create beautiful spaces in her home!
