The Cottage Keeper’s Thoughts:

Is anyone else feeling the heaviness of the past couple of weeks? From the fiasco in the Middle East to the terrible effects of Hurricane Ida this week to ongoing COVID debates and so much more – it’s inevitable that many of us feel a sense of hopelessness. My method for dealing with this particular kind of overwhelm is to just avoid the news and the onslaught of (mis)information.

I’m back in the bread baking business! And by business, I mean baking bread for my kids and for XC team dinners. I baked bread regularly for over a year until we moved. After we moved to Auburn, I tried to make a new starter and the bread just wasn’t any good. I made a new starter last week and have baked 2 sets of loaves. Today’s loaves are just as good as my old bread!

*If you want to try your hand at baking bread, but want to do it easily, my friend Sarah from Home On Magnolia Hill, sells Beginner Sourdough Starter Kits in her Etsy shop! (You should also follow her on IG so you can see her dwarf goats!)

This week I have wasted inordinate amounts of time reading all about Bishop Sycamore. I don’t even know how I stumbled upon the first article, but now I know way more about this football team and its supposed “school” than I should. Don’t get started!

Spring Fever is a real thing, just look at my college transcripts! I requested all of my college transcripts – yes ALL of them. I have taken at least one course at 6 different colleges or universities. The harsh truth is spring semesters weren’t my best. What’s funny is the two spring semesters when my grades were the worst, I can pinpoint exactly what was going on in my life to affect my efforts.

And once again, the blog was silent this week! Between Bishop Sycamore, requesting my college transcripts for an undisclosed purpose, and a full slate of clients, the week slipped right by me! I did spend some time yesterday doing some planning and formulating a do-able plan for content creation for the next couple of weeks.

What the Cottage Keeper is Loving:

Christin at My Homier Home has curated the best Target fall decor for the year. She’s picked some really fun stuff!

Now that it’s September, everyone seems to be thinking fall and this Apple Bread certainly has me thinking about fall flavors!

Remember when I used hymns to cover the big W I gifted my mother-in-law? How about hymn-covered pumpkins?!! I love these decoupaged pumpkins my friend Juliet made!

Are you constantly forgetting your passwords? Here’s a great resource and info for you to organize your passwords.

Since the big gift giving season is right around the corner, how about some gift wrap storage inspo? I love this DIY Wrapping Paper Storage and I don’t even keep a ton of gift wrap, but have clients who do!
